We've put this day course together for paddlers looking to get the best possible start to their leading career and for those already leading looking to access a fresh approach. This course covers the pre-requisites for the BCU 4* River Leader award and much, much more besides.

Based in the premiere white water teaching arena that is Slovenia’s Soca valley, our top class staff will ensure you leave ready for action!

Leadership styles and Group Dynamics

River Safety and Awareness

Real life Rescue Tactics

Personal skill improvement

First aid

Equipment, planning and a range of theoretical topics

This course includes BCU 4* Training, BCU WWSR and REC 16hr emergency.

Programme:

Day One: Arrival day, a chance to chill out after the flight, meet the rest of the team and sample the local culture.

Day Two: After a review of kit, we'll go for a paddle to get you into the swing of things. This also allows us to identify key areas for development.

Day Three: A chance to build on yesterday's observations with some personal skills development.

Day Four: Now we focus on leadership styles and group dynamics, along with how you can use them to the groups advantage.

Day Five: What happens when things go wrong? Find out today as we look at rescue solutions to common scenarios.

Day Six: Putting it all into practice! A day of scenarios to give you a chance to test what you have learnt, followed by a detailed review session of the week.

Day seven: Departure.

Obviously, this is a sample programme. This could change depending on water levels, abilities and aims within the group.
